Feel Comfortable With Sedation Dentistry in Edgewater, NJ

Get the Dental Care You Need With Soothing Sedation Dentistry.

Because we want everyone to be able to receive the dental care they need, we have been certified to administer sedation to those patients for whom it is a necessity. Some patients have a difficult time staying still in the chair, some are fearful of dentists and still others may lack the ability to interact with a dentist. Sedation can enable them to receive care, stay out of pain and preserve their teeth.

We have three levels of sedation available: mild, moderate and deep. Mild sedation is normally given orally and just helps a patient relax. Moderate sedation relaxes a patient more deeply but they can still respond to questions. Deep sedation can have a person alternating between consciousness and unconsciousness.

If anxieties or other problems make it difficult for you or a loved one to receive care, please contact us so we can explain our procedures more fully.

We'll Ease Your Anxiety About Going to the Dentist

At the Dental & Implant Center of Edgewater, we understand that many of our patients experience severe dental anxiety. They might also have problems staying still during their appointments. No matter what type of procedure you're coming in for, you deserve to feel calm.

Dental sedation utilizes local anesthesia to cause a deep state of relaxation that feels like you're almost asleep. You can receive the dental work you need, free from pain and worry.

What's Sedation Dentistry?

The medications used with sedation dentistry can be administered in a few different ways:

  • Oral (given in pill form)
  • Inhaled (given via a mask over your nose)
  • Intravenous (inserted directly into your bloodstream)

The sedatives used help people relax. Most patients experience a reduction in dental anxiety since they're in a sleep-like or drowsy state. Patients will still have some awareness since this is oral conscious sedation.

What Are the Benefits of Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry does more than help people with dental anxiety. It also enables our patients to feel no discomfort or pain during their treatments. It's perfect for patients who have a low pain threshold.

It's also a great option for those with severe gag reflexes or those with dental phobias. Patients can still communicate with their dentist while feeling at ease during their treatment.
